Ideas for Celebrating Sundays - The Lord's Day
Let's make Sunday a day of celebration for our families!
- Ask you family what would make Sundays special. What would celebrate our salvation and freedom in Christ?
- Start the night before. Lay out church clothes, give Saturday evening baths, prepare parts of tomorrow's dinner that will help you pull it together easier.
- Play games as a family.
- Eat special foods (Feasting for Festivals have some lovely scone recipes on page 78-79 or you can try my Chocolate Chip Scones.)
- Sundays are for dessert! Have an Ice Cream Sundae Bar, Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pie, or other family favorites. Saving these sweet treats for Sundays make them that much more special! (This is especially true during Lent when we are avoiding extra sugar throughout the week.)
- Have potluck at your home with other believers. You create such a strong bond of fellowship within the Body of Christ when you break bread in each other's houses!
- Get out in nature! Take a Sunday walk, Sunday drive, Sunday sit-on-the-back-deck-and-soak-it-all-in. Consider the beauty of God's creation and His love and mercy toward us. And then consider the Garden of Eden and how the beauty around us is but a dimly lit foretaste of Heaven!
